What is backache?
Back pain is one of the most common ailments today and we all suffer from this problem in our daily life. In fact, about 80 percent of people experience back pain at some point in their lives. This is more common in women than men.
What are the causes of backache?
- Back pain is caused due to Weak abdomen and back muscles
- Poor posture is another major cause for back pain.
- Prolonged period of sitting, standing or stooping in one position causing straining of the joints is another reason that aggravates back pain.
- Sudden and vigorous jerking or twisting of the trunk can cause
- Heavy menstruation can cause backache in women
- Sedentary living patterns can trigger this ailment.
- Emotional stress at times is responsible for back pain.
- Overweight people generally feel muscle strain on back and suffer from backpain.
- Back pain can also be due to kidney or prostate problem.
- Influenza or other major problem can cause back pain.
- Wearing of high heels is believed to cause this problem.

What are the symptoms of backache?
- Pain in middle and lower back.
- In severe cases the patient is immobile and cannot move.
Home remedies for backache
- When standing for a prolonged period in one position raise your one foot on a platform or stool.
- While sitting keep a cushion in the hollow of your back if your chair has a poor back support.
- When you are sleeping always sleep on a firm mattress
- To get a good relief from the back pain, sleep lying on your back or on your side putting one knee slightly bent.
- Change the activities that give you a severe pain. Do not sit /stand in one position and change your position occasionally.
- Lift any heavy loads in a proper way that is by keeping your knees bent and your back straight. Holds the load close to your body and while lifting the load straighten your knees.
- Gently massage the painful area or put a hot towel on the aching area .If necessary take the help of medication to reduce the pain.
- Do regular exercises to strengthen abdominal and back muscle
- Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon and prepare the mixture adding common salt in it. Drink it two times in a day. It will serve as a great back pain reliever.
- Raw potatoes in the form of poultice is a very good back pain reliever. It is to be applied on the pain affected area. Generally, potato is used to treat lower back pain.
- Have plenty of citrus fruits as it contains vitamin C. It will help you to get rid of backaches.
- Applying garlic oil on the back provides an immense relief from back pain. Take 10 small garlic pieces and fry them in oil on a low flame. Use sesame oil, coconut oil or mustard oil and fry till the garlic cloves turn light brown. Allow the oil prepared from garlic cool completely. Thereafter apply it on the back and keep it for about three hours. Within a few days you’ll feel its magical effects.
