What is depression?

- Biochemical causes and hormonal changes may induce depression.
- And finally mental stress is the biggest culprit that can cause depression.
Home remedies to combat depression

- Eat a lot of apple. The various chemical substances, like vitamin Bl, phosphorus and potassium, that are present in this fruit, help the synthesis of glutamic acid, which controls the wear and tear of nerve cells. Eaten daily with milk and honey, an apple will act as a very effective nerve tonic and recharge the nerves with new energy and life, thus helping you to fight depression.
- Munch on cashew nuts that are rich in vitamins of B group, especially thiamine and riboflavin. It therefore is useful in stimulating appetite and nervous system keeping the body active, gay and energetic.
- The root of asparagus is also beneficial in the treatment of depression. A good tonic for the brain and nerves, this helps one to ward off depression.
- Cardamom too is an effective medicine for depression Powdered seeds pof cardamom are boiled with the tea and is used as a medicine in the treatment of this condition.
- Lemon balm is another herb that helps you to combat depression. Place a small portion of this herb in cold water and allow it to stand for 12 hours. Then strain the infusion and take it throughout the day.
